Open Water Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Open Water collects, why, who processes it, and how you can have it deleted. Open Water does not show ads, does not sell your information, and does not use it for marketing.
Information we collect
- Your Meta account ID and profile. With your permission through the Meta Horizon platform, the game receives your Meta user ID and basic profile (such as your display name). It uses them only to sign you in to the game's online account, so your progress follows you to any headset.
- Game account ID. A player ID created by our game services provider for your account.
- Game progress. Your angler name, appearance choices, money, gear, catches, fishing journal and settings, saved on your headset and backed up to the cloud.
- Leaderboard entries. Your angler name and your best catches (species, weight and location), which other players can see.
- Multiplayer data. When you play with others, your angler name, appearance, position and actions are shared with the players in your session, and network connection data (such as your IP address) is used by the relay service to connect you.
- Voice chat. In multiplayer, unless you mute your microphone, your voice is sent live to the other players near you. Voice is not recorded or stored by us.
- Technical data. Our services provider may receive basic technical information needed to run the service, such as device type, operating system version and error information.
How we use it
- To sign you in and save and restore your progress.
- To run multiplayer sessions, voice chat and leaderboards.
- To check catch payouts on our server, keeping the game fair.
- To confirm you own the game (Meta's entitlement check).
Who processes it
Open Water's online features run on Unity Gaming Services by Unity Technologies (sign-in, cloud save, leaderboards, cloud code, multiplayer relay and lobby, and Vivox voice chat), which processes this information on our behalf, mainly in the United States. See Unity's privacy policy. Your Meta account is governed by Meta's privacy policy. We do not share your information with anyone else, except where required by law.
How long we keep it
We keep your game account, progress and leaderboard entries while your account is active. You can ask us to delete them at any time (see below). Voice chat is never stored.
Your choices and deleting your data
- You can mute your microphone in the game's settings, and you can play without joining multiplayer games.
- To access or delete your data, email arod1207@gmail.com with the subject "Open Water data request". We will delete your game account, cloud save and leaderboard entries within 30 days.
- You can also remove the game's access to your Meta account in your Meta account settings.
Children
Open Water is intended for teens and adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date above.
